While I don’t have too many camping trips under my belt, the camping spots I have visited have been absolutely spectacular. Consider pitching a tent at World’s End State Park or Bald Eagle State Park — they’re nearby too! Don’t forget to download and print the maps I have provided under “Maps.”

Camping Spots

World's End State Park

I visited World’s End State Park last summer. Unfortunately, this was around the time when the Canadian wildfires blew across the border, leaving Pennsylvania a smokey state. Our camping spot was incredibly private, something we prefer when camping. We had a fire ring and a beautifully raised tent spot, filled with wood chips for our comfort. World’s End has an amazing network of trails. At times, we got very lost on the trails due to lack of trail markers, but it was very fun. Be prepared to hike steep hills and on the edges of the valley. Specifically, Loyalsock trail was tough, but it was worth seeing Canyon Vista! Warren’s Window was also exceptional. Additionally, World’s End has an area roped off for swimming (not pictured), and even a concession stand. The staff were very friendly too! 10/10 recommend!

Camping in the Wilderness

Bald Eagle State Park

Bald Eagle State Park is right next to Lock Haven, so take advantage of this camping spot, Lock Haven students! Despite our terrible navigation to our camping spot, it was pleasantly surprising. Our spot was super private, and we were right next to the restrooms! Tent camping was separate from trailer camping, so that was also convenient. With that being said, the majority of the hiking trails, with the exception of one, were at the trailer camping site. To our surprise, there was an area roped off for swimming in the lake! We did not have bathing suits, but it was nice to dip our toes in. I would recommend hiking Swamp Oak trail, where you can see the “Champion Tree of PA!” Spread your wings and fly over to Bald Eagle State Park for your next camping adventure!
